GUIDE
Twitch clips
With Shiny's Streaming Services, you can create a clip of your current Twitch stream by using a Nightbot command or a Direct URL. First, connect your Twitch clip permissions in the dashboard. Keep in mind that the Clip OAuth is different from your dashboard login.
Connect clips
- Sign in and open the Clips section of the dashboard.
- Click Connect Twitch clips and authorize the permissions Twitch asks for.
- Copy the Nightbot command or Direct URL from the instructions panel.
Separate clip account
Sometimes, you might want to create clips using a different Twitch account, such as a bot or a co-streamer. If you have not connected clips yet, the dashboard will show an Authorize separate clip account link. Click this link while signed into the Twitch account you want to use for creating clips. Complete the authorization, then return to your main dashboard session.
Using the command
The Nightbot command is: !commands add !clip $(urlfetch …/api/clips?key=…). Once you add the command, typing !clip in chat (if you have the right permissions) will create a clip and send back a short status message. The Direct URL works the same way for Stream Deck tools or other bots that can access a website.
Keys and security
The key query parameter identifies your account. Treat command URLs like passwords. Do not share them in public pastes or with untrusted bots. You can disconnect clips from the dashboard at any time if you need to change access.
